YesNoFy User Guide

Everything you need to know about trading on prediction markets

Getting Started

What is YesNoFy?

YesNoFy is a prediction market platform where users trade on the outcomes of real-world events. Unlike traditional betting, you're not wagering against YesNoFy—you're trading with other users who have different views about the future.

How it works in 30 seconds:

  1. 1.Browse events — Sports, politics, crypto, technology, and more
  2. 2.Choose a side — Buy YES if you think it will happen, NO if it won't
  3. 3.Trade anytime — Sell your position before the event resolves
  4. 4.Earn on outcomes — If you're right, receive $1.00 per share. If wrong, $0.00

How Prediction Markets Work

A prediction market is a place where people put money where their opinions are. This creates a more accurate forecast than polls or surveys because participants have real financial stake in being correct.

Example

"Will Bitcoin be above $100,000 by December 31, 2026?"

  • If you think YES (it will happen), you buy YES shares
  • If you think NO (it won't happen), you buy NO shares
  • The current price reflects what the crowd believes

Key Concepts

Shares as Contracts

Each share is a contract that pays:

  • $1.00 if the outcome occurs
  • $0.00 if it doesn't

Price = Probability

Prices range from $0.01 to $0.99. You can read the price as an implied probability:

YES $0.65
"about 65% chance"
NO $0.35
"about 35% chance"
Always: YES price + NO price = $1.00

Mark Price (Mid Price)

The mark price is calculated as:

Mark Price = (Best Bid + Best Ask) ÷ 2

This is the reference price you'll see on market listings and position summaries.

Trading

Understanding YES and NO Shares

You can trade either side depending on your view. You are not betting against YesNoFy—you're trading with other users.

YES

Buy YES if you think the event will happen.

  • • Profit when probability goes UP
  • • Payout: $1.00 if correct, $0.00 if wrong
NO

Buy NO if you think the event will NOT happen.

  • • Profit when probability goes DOWN
  • • Payout: $1.00 if correct, $0.00 if wrong

Important Rule

You can only hold one side at a time per market. You cannot hold both YES and NO positions simultaneously. Close your current position before switching sides.

How Prices Work

Prices change based on supply and demand. More buyers push prices up, more sellers push them down. Prices also respond to real-world information and market sentiment.

Reading Opportunities:

  • • If you believe true probability is higher than current price → Buy YES
  • • If you believe true probability is lower than current price → Buy NO

Placing Orders

YesNoFy supports four order types to give you control over execution and risk. Learn more about each type in the "Order Types" section below.

Jump to Order Types

Order Types

Market Orders

Execute immediately at best available price

Use when: You want immediate execution and current prices are acceptable

Note: SELL orders require you to own shares first

Limit Orders

Execute only at your specified price (or better)

Use when: You want price control and are willing to wait

Stop Market Orders (SELL only)

Automatically sell if price drops to stop level

Use for: Stop-loss protection on existing positions

Stop Limit Orders (SELL only)

Stop-loss with price control after trigger

Risk: May not fill if limit price isn't reached

Managing Positions

Your position tracks your holdings in a market. View it in your Portfolio to see quantity, average entry price, current value, and profit/loss.

Increasing Position

Buy more shares on the same side. Your quantity increases and average price recalculates.

Decreasing Position

Sell part of your position. Realize profit/loss on sold portion.

Closing Position

Sell all shares. Position goes to zero, all collateral released.

Switching Sides

Close current position first, then open opposite side.

Understanding Risk

What You Can and Cannot Do

You CAN:

  • ✅ Trade YES or NO shares
  • ✅ Place market, limit, and stop orders
  • ✅ Sell before settlement
  • ✅ Track real-time P&L
  • ✅ Cancel pending orders
  • ✅ Switch sides (after closing position)

You CANNOT:

  • Sell shares you don't own — You must have a position before placing SELL orders
  • ❌ Hold both YES and NO simultaneously
  • ❌ Place BUY stop orders (STOP orders are SELL-only)
  • ❌ Trade after event starts

Why these rules? They ensure fair trading, proper order book structure, prevent manipulation, and establish clear risk boundaries.

Profit and Loss (P&L)

Unrealized P&L

Current profit/loss if you sold at mark price right now. Changes constantly as prices move.

Unrealized P&L = (Mark Price - Entry Price) × Shares

Realized P&L

Locked-in profit/loss from shares already sold. Never changes after the sale.

Realized P&L = (Sell Price - Entry Price) × Shares Sold

Settlement P&L

At market resolution: $1.00 per share if correct, $0.00 if wrong.

Settlement and Payouts

After the real-world event concludes, the market resolves to YES or NO based on objective, verifiable data.

If you are RIGHT
$1.00
per share payout
If you are WRONG
$0.00
per share payout

Note: You don't have to wait for settlement. You can sell your shares at market price any time before the event closes.
